The economy is begining to stablize, but what you describes proves that it is working. As more people who bought the game recently hit level 20 they will slowly want 15K armor. As they want 15K armor demand for ultra rare crafting materials increase, as demand increases so will price. What should then happen is that once these people get their armor any of these materials they find will probably be sold since they dont need them anymore, so supply will go up, it will eventually teater out to a level state as was shown by the runes, spike when they came and eventually when everyone got the ones they needed demand dropped and supply to the traders went up.

Currently the price of superior vitality and absorption has fallen right out.
*Sigh*
I can see this games economy being like that of so many Ragnarok servers I played.

i believe once people would wisen up and realize that the 15k underworld armor is a waste then we wont have to worry bout it.....untill then be glad theres some shmuck out there spending 13k a piece for like 50 globs of ecto more power to him. i mean thats an aweosome money sink.

This only means that some rich guy is trying to give you his gold indirectly. When you see the trader selling price is 13k, sell all your ectos to it for 10k+, and do it fast before the price drops to 5-7k. Whenever I saw the price of ectos shoot over 10k, it usually drops to 5-7k in less than 1 hour. With all the UW and fissure activities, the average price of ectos and shards should be around 5k each.

I know what you mean, when I first created this ranger I had every intention of going for the fissure armor. I got him to twenty and made some good money, in a couple days I'd made 100k off a cruddy storm bow and some other things I got, not too bad...then the more I looked at it I realized...yeah, that's not worth the 500 (or more now) thousand gold just for that armor, forget it.
So I'm just going to buy the 15k druids set, and be happy.

This is seriously a downer. I had gotten my arms and boots when the prices were low, and I've been making money steadily ever since then, but even with around 13k profit a day, I can't even approach the price of ectos. Really sucks, too... I just want my leg pieces. 200k and counting... I should've had enough by now if prices weren't so damn stupid... oh well.
btw. I'm not going to buy ectos at 10k each.. it's just not gonna happen. I hope others decide to boycott this, if they really do want the armor. I think 5k each is a reasonable price. Nothing more should be paid, but hey... not my choice.

There are a lot more people finishing the game now, and playing Fissure, but who are unable to get past the Aatxes in Underworld. They have their Obsidian, but need to buy the ecto from those who get it...
Yeah, the prices are soaring. People pay a lot for vanity these days.
Peace,

UW monsters don't come in big crowd. In fissure of woe, you'll need at least 6 people to deal with the big crowd. In Underworld, 1 good calling/tanking warrior+1monk+2 ele nukers are all you need to take care of the Aatxes for smite runs.

The problem is that drops were nerfed in those locations as well, so even farming for then is dificult, expensive and with the rise of european guilds able to take and maintain favor not something we can just head in and start farming.

The the people of Arenanet practice a very communist form of economics. I remember the good old days when players set the prices for goods. Then this red revolution occurs and now almost every item in the game has a trader. I miss the laissez-faire policy like it used to be.

Oh, I don't disagree. But my point is this - what percentage of the GW playing population can successfully complete a 4/5 man smite run, as opposed to being part of a successful Fissure team? UW is theoretically doable with less people, but for your average pickup, Fissure is reasonably doable while your team gets mopped up by Aatxes in UW.

When I went to Fissure recently I just didn't have inventory room and just salvaged all those ectos, *whoops*. I don't care much for the fissure armor, it looks sweet and all. Now that I know you guys need ecto so much I might sell it to players, or the trader.

How is a TRADER communist? He works off of supply and demand. People are selling more ectos than buying? Price goes down. Buying more than selling? Price goes up.
How does this have anything to do with communism in the slightest?

It doesn't. Most people are clueless as to what communism or socialism really is, and for that matter, what capitalism really is. Far too easy for any economic practice people don't happen to like to be labeled "communist" thanks to Cold War era propaganda that people swallowed whole.

MY bad I meant UW. Normally only go to Fissure. They stack w00t, I salvaged them when i just had one, then again each time for room for that gold whatever it was. D'oh and double D'oh the ecto would have been worth a lot more. Yeah hides used to be so rare and fur.

I know it's off topic, but I agree. "The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR)", they never even claimed to be communist, they simply /aspired/ to communism while practicing socialism. Most people still don't realize that while indeed the Communist party was in power, the USSR was never a communist state....
